Turtle Lake is a popular destination for water recreation and fishing. Turtle Lake is about 21km long, 8 km across and the maximum depth is 14.3 metres right in the middle at its basin, south west of Indian Point. The primary fish species in the lake are Walleye, Pike and Whitefish.
The Hamlet of South Bay currently has 112 cabins. The central park area has a playground, a multipurpose court for basketball and pickleball, and a beach volley ball court. There are 3 public beaches and a boat launch.
